Marshall JTM 45
The Marshall JTM 45 is the first amplifier Marshall produced, appearing in the early 1960s. It is a valve head of about forty-five watts with two channels of modest gain, a simple tone section and a valve rectifier on the earliest examples, and it was built as a British alternative to the American amplifiers of the period. Turned up, it produces a thick, warm distortion with a loose low end that players have valued ever since, and it has been reissued by Marshall several times along with modified versions. It stands at the beginning of the company's history.
