My Guitar Notes

Martin D-28

The Martin D-28 is the steel-string acoustic guitar that defined the modern dreadnought, introduced in the early 1930s. It has a body with a steeply curved lower bout, a solid spruce top and rosewood back and sides, with bracing that gives a powerful, well balanced sound with strong bass, clear treble and a wide dynamic range, which suits both strumming and single-note flatpicking. Instruments from the pre-war period are among the most valuable and most copied acoustic guitars in the world, and the model remains in continuous production at the top of Martin's range.
