Silent Brass is a system made by Yamaha for brass instruments, consisting of a mute that fits into the bell of the instrument and an electronic unit that processes the sound. The player hears the instrument through headphones while almost nothing escapes to the room, and the unit can add a little reverberation or other effects so that the sound is more natural to play against, making it possible to practise in a flat or late at night. It is one of the products in the company's Silent series, which applies the same idea of quiet practice to other families of instruments.
