My Guitar Notes

Muse-kun is the name of a series of bundled desktop music products that Roland began selling in 1988. Each package combined a sound module, such as the MT-32, with a MIDI interface and a set of sequencing programs for the computer, so that a complete composition system arrived in one purchase. The phrase desk top music is said to have been used first in connection with these products, and the approach was followed by later ranges from the same company and by rivals. The bundle is credited with opening computer-based music making to people who did not play an instrument, and it has been registered as an important item of technological history in Japan.
