Rickenbacker 360/12
The Rickenbacker 360/12 is the twelve-string version of the company's semi-hollow 360, and one of the most familiar twelve-string electric guitars ever made. Its strings are arranged in pairs, with the octave string struck first on the downstroke, which gives the characteristic bright, ringing chime, and the instrument is built with a double-cutaway body, a set of pickups of the company's own design and the slotted headstock its twelve-string guitars require. It became widely known through its use in the mid 1960s, and it has been produced in several versions since, along with related models.
