Rickenbacker 400 series
The Rickenbacker 400 series is the group of electric guitars the company catalogued under numbers beginning with that figure, instruments produced from the middle of the twentieth century with solid or semi-solid bodies, bolt-on or set necks and the maker's own pickups. Rickenbacker later used similar numbers in the 4000 range for its bass guitars, so the designation is shared between two different families in the company's catalogue. The guitars of the 400 series are valued by players interested in the early development of the solid-body electric instrument and in the company's distinctive construction methods.
