Roland GR-100
The Roland GR-100 is a guitar synthesizer unit from the company's early GR series, produced before the introduction of the digitally controlled instruments that followed. Systems of this kind read the pitch of each string through a divided pickup mounted on the guitar and use that information to drive an internal tone generator, so that the guitar can produce sounds quite unlike its own. The GR-100 followed the company's first experiments of this kind, and it belongs to the group of instruments through which guitar synthesis was developed in the late 1970s and 1980s.
