Roland GR-300
The Roland GR-300 is an analogue guitar synthesizer introduced in 1980, and one of the most admired instruments of its kind. Unlike the pitch-to-voltage systems that preceded it, it uses a hexaphonic pickup to sense each string separately and controls its signal directly, an arrangement that tracks the player's technique quickly and gives the instrument much of the expressive quality of a real guitar. Used with the company's companion controller guitar, it produces a distinctive reedy, synth-like tone with the natural articulation of the strings, and it is closely associated with the playing of Pat Metheny.
