Roland SP-303
The Roland SP-303 is a compact sampler and phrase instrument introduced at the beginning of the 2000s. It records short passages of audio into its memory from an external source, assigns them to a set of rubber pads, and allows them to be triggered, looped, filtered and processed with effects while playing, so that it can be used to build and perform music live without a computer or a keyboard. Instruments of this kind, which developed from the earlier samplers in the same series, were widely used in hip hop and electronic music production.
