Roland TR-505
The Roland TR-505 is a drum machine from the middle of the 1980s, part of the company's long line of rhythm instruments. It generates its drum sounds digitally from stored samples rather than analogue circuits, and it offers a set of preset patterns together with programmable ones, controls for level and tuning of individual voices, and the ability to synchronise with other equipment. Machines of this kind were widely used by musicians writing and demoing material at home in that decade, and the TR-505 is remembered as a straightforward and dependable unit of the mid-1980s range.
