Roland VSC
The VSC is a software sound module produced by Roland, sold both as a program for computers and in a version bundled with other software. It generates sounds in the computer according to the same general standard of instrument assignment as the company's hardware modules, so that a piece of music written for one of those units can be played back on a computer without changes, using the machine's own processing rather than an external device. Products of this kind were widely used by computer musicians once personal computers became powerful enough to generate musical sound directly.
