Tiger
Tiger is the guitar built for the American guitarist Jerry Garcia by the luthier Doug Irwin, and played by him from the late 1970s for about a decade. It has a heavily constructed body with a carved and contoured shape, an elaborate inlay of a tiger at the rear of the body, a dense set of controls and multiple switches allowing the pickups to be combined in a wide variety of ways, and an onboard preamp buffer, all of which made it unusually flexible. The instrument was central to Garcia's playing with the Grateful Dead, and it is one of the best known custom guitars in rock.
