Yamaha electric guitar models
Yamaha has produced electric guitars since the middle of the twentieth century, and its models fall into a number of families. The company built instruments in the style of the established American designs during the 1960s and 1970s, then developed high-grade original designs such as the double-cutaway SG series and the SBG, and from the 1980s it produced the superstrat guitars of the RGX and Pacifica ranges, which are among the most widely sold electric guitars in the world. Signature instruments have also been made for individual players. This entry covers the range as a whole rather than a single model.
