Yamaha YM2414
The Yamaha YM2414 is a frequency modulation sound chip from the company's range of such devices, used both in its own instruments and in computer hardware. It generates its tones by combining simple waveforms so that they interact and produce complex harmonics, with several operators available to build each sound and a number of channels sounding at once, and it supports the percussion and effect sounds that the equipment using it required. Devices in this family differ in the number of channels, operators and extra facilities they provide. The chip is one of the several designs through which the company supplied music capability to equipment of the period.
