Yamaha YMF7xx
The YMF7xx is a family of audio controllers Yamaha produced for personal computers, and one of the ranges through which the company supplied sound hardware for the machines of the 1990s. Devices in the family combine the playback of recorded audio and the generation of music, providing both the game and composition sounds the software of the period expected, and they were fitted to sound cards and to motherboards in place of or alongside the more familiar chips of other makers. They are one of the many contributions the company made to the sound of computer software in that decade.
