Why it matters
Gretsch's ukulele range takes the styling of the company's guitars and applies it to a small instrument. The G9110 is the standard concert model, laminated rather than solid, which keeps the price down and makes it stable in changing humidity. It suits players who want a second ukulele, or a first one with more character than a plain laminate.
Note
Concert ukulele in the Gretsch idiom, with a vintage-styled headstock and a laminated body.
Specifications
- Scale length: 381 mm (15 in)
- Neck shape: Medium U
Before you buy
- Laminated bodies are stable but less resonant than solid wood
- The same range includes acoustic-electric versions at higher prices
- Concert size sits between soprano and tenor, which suits most hands
