Boss DS-1
The Boss DS-1 Distortion is one of the best-selling guitar pedals of all time. Introduced in the late 1970s, it uses a simple control set of Distortion, Tone and Level to deliver a hard-edged, midrange-heavy crunch that works for rock and metal and stacks well with an already overdriven amplifier. Its combination of low price, tough enclosure and recognisable sound put it on more pedalboards than almost any rival, and it has been used on records across punk, grunge, alternative rock and beyond. Boss has kept it in production in updated forms ever since.
