Boss DS-2

The Boss DS-2 Turbo Distortion appeared in the late 1980s as a hotter, more flexible companion to the DS-1. Its Distortion and Tone controls are joined by a mode switch, labelled Turbo, which selects between two gain and voicing settings: one tighter and more focused, the other fatter and more saturated. Remote switching allows the mode to be changed by foot mid-performance. Its ability to move between a biting rhythm crunch and a thick lead sustain made it popular with alternative rock players, and it remains a common sight on stages and in studios.
