Boss NS-2

The Boss NS-2 Noise Suppressor is the long-serving noise gate in the Boss range, introduced in the early 1990s and still sold today. Its Threshold and Decay controls set where the gate opens and how quickly it closes again, and its send and return loop lets the gate work on the noisy pedals in a chain, in the so-called four-cable method, rather than chopping the guitar's dry signal. That arrangement makes it a standard tool for high-gain rigs, where the pedal keeps the signal silent between phrases without swallowing the attack of the first note.
