Boss PH-2
The Boss PH-2 Super Phaser is a compact analogue phaser that Boss kept in production from the 1980s into the 1990s. Rate and Depth controls set the speed and intensity of the sweeping notch filter that gives phasing its whooshing, swirling character, and a mode switch offers different sweep shapes, one deeper and more vocal, the other subtler. Phasing is one of the oldest guitar effects, and the PH-2 is a straightforward working example: easy to dial in, tough, and able to move from a slow wash to a fast shimmer at a nudge of the knob.
