Boss PS-2
The Boss PS-2 Digital Pitch Shifter/Delay is a compact digital pedal from the mid 1980s that does two jobs. In pitch shift mode it transposes the note up or down by a set interval, a job that analogue circuits could not do cleanly; in delay mode it works as a short digital delay with feedback. The digital conversion gives it a slightly glassy, artificial tone that attracted players looking for something obviously processed, and tracking on single notes is steadier than on chords. It is an early example of affordable digital processing on a pedalboard.
