Boss RV-2
The Boss RV-2 Digital Reverb is a compact digital reverb pedal from the 1980s, one of the earliest to put reverb into a stompbox. Rather than a spring tank it uses digital processing to generate room and hall type ambiences, with controls for time, level and equalisation. Being digital it avoids the hum, crash and physical size of a spring reverb, and it lets a player add ambience to a small amplifier without carrying a separate tank. Reverb pedals have since become far more elaborate, but the RV-2 was an early, affordable route to the sound.
