Fender Bass V
The Fender Bass V was a five-string electric bass that Fender offered in the mid 1960s. It took the solid body and single pickup of the Precision Bass and added a fifth string, but the extra string was pitched high rather than low, making the instrument a bass with an extended upper range rather than the low-extended five-string design used today. It was built with a narrow string spacing at the bridge and a compact neck, sold poorly in its time and was discontinued after a few years, and it is now a rarity collected for its unusual place in Fender's history.
