Fender Jazz Bass
The Fender Jazz Bass is one of the two defining electric bass designs, introduced in 1960 as a slimmer companion to the Precision Bass. It has an offset, contoured body, a neck noticeably narrower than the Precision's, and two single-coil pickups with separate volume controls and a shared tone control, an arrangement that allows a player to blend the pickups and produce anything from a thin, nasal sound to a full, round one. Its articulate upper midrange and growl made it standard equipment in jazz, funk, soul and rock, and it has remained in continuous production with many revisions.
