Fender Marauder

The Fender Marauder is a guitar design Fender worked up in the early 1960s but never put into full production. The prototype combined an offset body with an unusual pickup arrangement set directly into the body beneath the strings rather than in the conventional parts, resulting in an instrument that looked conventional but produced its sound in a way that avoided the hum of ordinary single coils. Because the design was abandoned, original examples are extremely rare; Fender revisited the name in later years with a reissue outside its main production ranges.
