Fender Telecaster
The Fender Telecaster is the electric guitar introduced in 1950 and the first solid-body Spanish guitar to be produced in quantity. It has a simple slab body, a bolt-on maple neck and two single-coil pickups, one set in a metal bridge plate with three adjustable saddles and one at the neck, controlled by a volume and tone knob and a three-position blade switch. Its plain construction and bright, cutting tone made it the standard instrument for country, and it was taken up by rock players as well; it has been produced continuously since, in a very large number of versions.
