Gibson EB-2
The Gibson EB-2 is a semi-hollow electric bass introduced in the late 1950s. It has a large, thin body with an f-hole and hollow chambers, a short scale length and one or two humbucking pickups, and its construction gives a soft, rounded and resonant tone with a quick decay rather than the defined sound of a solid-body instrument. It was used by bassists in rock and jazz in the 1960s, including in Britain, where instruments of this kind influenced the sound of several groups, and it is valued today for a very different bass voice from the familiar solid-body designs.
