Gibson Firebird

The Gibson Firebird is a solid-body electric guitar introduced in 1963, designed by Ray Dietrich and built in a manner unusual for the company: the neck runs through the whole length of the body with the side wings glued on, rather than being set into a separate body, which gives a long, stiff and resonant instrument. The original reverse-bodied design has a long, offset outline, a banjo-style tuner arrangement on one version and a pair of mini humbucking pickups. A later non-reverse version reversed the body shape. The model is used widely in rock, and it has been reissued in many forms.
