Gibson Futura

The Gibson Futura is a guitar design from the late 1950s, one of the experimental instruments the company developed as part of its modernistic group. The Futura's body has an angular, pointed outline and an offset shape, and it relates closely to the development of the Explorer and Moderne, differing in the details of the body cut and the lower horn. Only a very small number were made, since the whole group sold badly, and the design is historically interesting as a step in Gibson's attempts to build a modern solid-body guitar, with the name reused on later reissues.
