Gibson Les Paul bass

The Gibson Les Paul bass is a bass guitar built to the outline of the Les Paul solid body, with the same single-cutaway shape, carved top and bound body and the four-per-side headstock of the guitar. It carries humbucking pickups designed for bass and a control layout with volume and tone, and it is a heavy instrument that produces a thick, warm sound with strong sustain, in keeping with the guitar it is modelled on. Basses in this shape have been made at various times as limited or signature instruments rather than as part of the company's standard bass range.
