Gibson Les Paul Special

The Gibson Les Paul Special is a single-cutaway solid-body guitar introduced in 1955, positioned between the Junior and the Standard. It has a flat slab mahogany body without a carved top, two P-90 single-coil pickups each with its own volume and tone control, and a wraparound or, on later versions, a Tune-o-matic bridge and stop bar, so that it offers a wider range of sounds than the single-pickup Junior while remaining relatively plain. It has been produced in several periods in both single-cutaway and double-cutaway forms and is valued for the direct, punchy tone of its construction.
