Gibson S-1
The Gibson S-1 is a solid-body electric guitar produced in the middle and late 1970s. It has a slab body with a contoured outline and a bolt-on neck, and it carries three single-coil pickups controlled by a rotary switch giving several combinations, together with the usual volume and tone controls, an arrangement that put it closer to the designs of other makers than to the traditional Gibson layout. The model was offered in a few versions and finishes and remained in production for a few years, and it is collected as an example of Gibson's attempts to sell into a changing market.
