Gibson Sonex
The Gibson Sonex is an electric guitar Gibson produced in the early 1980s. It has a solid body made of composite materials under a finish Gibson described as having a resonant quality, a bolt-on neck and a pair of humbucking pickups with the usual controls, and it was built in several versions at a moderate price to compete with imported guitars. The Sonex demonstrates the company's difficulties in that period, and like several of its models of the time it was discontinued after a few years, and it is now collected as an example of Gibson's experiments with alternative materials and cheaper construction.
