MXR Phase 90
The MXR Phase 90 is a compact phaser pedal introduced in the 1970s, and it is among the simplest and most imitated effects ever made. It has one control, for speed, and its circuit sweeps a set of filtered notches through the guitar's frequency range, producing a swirling, whooshing movement that thickens chords and adds motion to a sustained note. Early examples with the script-style logo on the case are valued by collectors, and later versions added a switch for a subtler or more pronounced effect. It is closely associated with the hard rock guitar sounds of its period.
