Ovation Deacon
The Ovation Deacon is a solid-body electric guitar from the same 1970s series as the company's Breadwinner, sharing its angular body outline and its distinctive electronics. The Deacon carried a pair of pickups with a control arrangement offering several preset sounds and a wide range of tone shaping, and it was offered in a number of finishes during its production run. Like the Breadwinner it came from a period when Ovation, known for its round-backed acoustic guitars, was trying to build a place for itself in the electric market, and the instruments are collected today as curiosities of that effort.
