Rickenbacker 4001
The Rickenbacker 4001 is the electric bass guitar that established the company in the instrument's history, introduced at the beginning of the 1960s. It has a solid body with a distinctive bound outline, a neck-through construction in which the neck continues through the length of the body, and two pickups with a control layout including separate volume and tone controls and a mix control, together with a stereo output on some versions. Its deep, ringing, piano-like tone with a strong sustain made it a favourite of bass players in rock from the 1960s onwards, and it remained in production for about two decades.
