Roland AX-Synth

The Roland AX-Synth is a keytar with a built-in sound engine, produced in the late 2000s. It has forty-nine velocity-sensitive keys, controllers on the neck for pitch bend and modulation, and additional switches and a ribbon controller on the body, together with its own set of synthesizer and other sounds so that it can be played without an external tone generator, as well as acting as a MIDI controller. It runs on batteries and is built for stage use. The instrument continues the company's line of strap-worn keyboards, which began in the 1980s.
