Roland CR-78
The Roland CR-78 CompuRhythm is an analogue drum machine introduced at the end of the 1970s. It generates its drum and percussion sounds with analogue circuits rather than samples, and it offers a set of preset rhythm patterns together with the ability to programme and store patterns of the player's own, with controls for tempo, level and individual instrument balance, and a metronome function. Its dry, distinctive voices and its preset patterns made it a favourite of producers, and it is heard on a number of well known recordings of the period.
