Roland JP-8000
The Roland JP-8000 is a virtual analogue synthesizer introduced in the late 1990s. It generates its sounds with digital processing that imitates the behaviour of analogue oscillators and filters, and it uses a panel of sliders and knobs so that a sound can be shaped directly. Its most distinctive feature is a supersaw oscillator that stacks several detuned sawtooth waves into a very wide, bright tone, a sound that became one of the defining voices of the trance and dance music of the period. It was also produced in a rack version.
