My Guitar Notes

Roland JV series

The Roland JV series is a family of digital synthesizers and sound modules the company produced through the 1990s. Instruments in the series generate their sounds from sampled waveforms processed by digital filters and envelopes, and they are organised around sets of patches and performances that can be layered and edited, with expansion boards available to add further sound sets. The series included keyboard versions and rack modules, and it was one of the most widely used sound sources in studios and on stages of the period, forming the basis of later instruments in the same tradition.
