The Fool

The Fool is a Gibson SG of the middle of the 1960s painted in a vivid psychedelic design by the Dutch artists collectively known as the Fool, and played by Eric Clapton during his time with Cream. The instrument is an SG from the period of the design's greatest popularity, decorated in the swirling, brightly coloured manner the artistic group applied to instruments and clothing, and it was taken up by other prominent players after Clapton, which gave it a second period of fame. It is valued both as a document of that decorative style and as an instrument used on stage during a celebrated period of rock.
