Yamaha SG series
The Yamaha SG series is the group of high-grade solid-body electric guitars the company produced from the middle of the 1970s, and the instruments through which it established a serious reputation among professional players. Guitars in the series have a double-cutaway body with a carved top, a set neck, two humbucking pickups with separate volume and tone controls, and heavy, high-quality hardware, with the better models built from selected woods in Japan and some fitted with a metal block beneath the bridge that adds sustain and weight to the tone. The series was used by prominent players of the period and remains well regarded.
