The Yamaha Pacifica is a long-running HSS superstrat line, and the PAC112V is the version most players encounter first.

Why it matters
Decades of continuous production make the Pacifica easy to service, modify and resell, which is unusual in the entry market. In the lower tiers it competes on consistency rather than features, and that is the point where most budget guitars struggle. Further up the range the line becomes a working instrument for players who want the layout without a Fender badge.
Note
The benchmark student electric (PAC112V the classic); HSS, comfortable, consistent.
Specifications
- Scale length: 648 mm (25.512 in)
- Neck shape: unknown
Before you buy
- Pick the trim that matches the pickup set required, as HSS is standard on the 112V
- Factory setup varies, so budget for a technician once-over
- Hardware on entry versions is lighter than the higher Pacifica tiers
