Yamaha's bass output splits three ways: the BB, the TRB and the Attitude signature models.

Why it matters
The BB arrived in 1977 and became the model most associated with the brand, while the TRB took the same engineering approach into a slimmer, more contemporary package. The Attitude exists because of Billy Sheehan and is built around his stage requirements rather than being a cosmetic signature. Prices across the three lines span a very wide range, so the first decision is which of them is actually being shopped for.
Note
BB (1977) is the definitive Yamaha bass; Attitude is Billy Sheehan's signature.
Specifications
- Scale length: 863.6 mm (34 in)
- Neck shape: unknown
Before you buy
- The three lines differ in neck profile and electronics, so try each before assuming they are interchangeable
- Active and passive versions of the BB exist and behave differently
- Signature models carry a premium over the equivalent standard instrument
