Gibson SG Special
The Gibson SG Special is the double-pickup version of the symmetrical solid-body design, introduced at the beginning of the 1960s. It has the same thin mahogany body and set neck as the Junior, but carries two P-90 single-coil pickups with separate volume and tone controls, together with a Tune-o-matic bridge and a vibrato unit on some versions. Its sound is brighter and more angular than the humbucking instruments of the same shape, and the model is used for rock and blues and is much associated with players of the late 1960s who preferred the single-coil version of the design.
