Why it matters
Supro, Valco, Kay, Harmony and the other names in this group built guitars in large numbers at low prices in the middle of the last century, then disappeared. The surviving instruments are affordable in absolute terms but vary enormously in condition, and the names carry recognition far beyond their original sales figures. Buyers today are choosing between an original, a modern revived version and a reproduction.
Note
The Valco-built Supros of Page-era legend (now revived).

- Scale length: unknown
- Neck shape: unknown
Before you buy
- Original pickups and hardware are often dead or replaced, so assume work is needed
- Valco-era instruments used unusual parts, which means repairs need a specialist
- Modern revived versions carry the same names but are different guitars at different prices
