Why it matters
The S Series has been the thinner alternative to the RG for decades, and it is usually where Ibanez puts mid-market and Premium features before they move up the range. Prices run from entry-level imports to Premium builds, so the badge alone says little about what is inside. Players who find the RG shape boxy tend to end up here.
Note
Slim mahogany double-cut with ZR/Edge trem; sleeker, warmer RG sibling.
Specifications
- Scale length: 648 mm (25.5 in)
- Neck shape: Wizard III
Before you buy
- Specs vary widely across the range, so check body wood, bridge and pickups per model
- Neck profiles differ by tier despite the shared look
- Sit with the shallow body carve before buying
