Electro-Harmonix Electric Mistress
The flanger of Gilmour-era Floyd lore.
Story
The Electric Mistress arrived in 1976 and the Deluxe followed two years later. What separated it from the other flangers of the period is the resonance in the sweep, which is the reason it stayed in production for the better part of five decades. Its second mode is the odd one: Filter Matrix stops the sweep and leaves you holding a fixed comb of notches, turning a moving effect into a stationary filter. Electro-Harmonix catalogued the Deluxe as discontinued in 2023. The reissue before that kept the analogue circuit and moved to a standard power supply, true bypass and an LED, so the venerable version and the pedalboard-friendly one sound the same and differ in plumbing.
