Why it matters
The Mockingbird has been built in several tiers since the 1970s, from inexpensive imports to American custom-shop instruments, so examples vary widely in construction and value. It appeals to players who want a hard-rock shape without going as far as a fully radical outline, and it has been used across southern rock and metal for decades. Current production sits in the middle of the B.C. Rich range.
Note
Elegant angular double-cutaway; a hard rock classic.
Specifications
- Scale length: 625.5 mm (24.626 in)
- Neck shape: Slim D
Before you buy
- the tier matters more than the shape — Legacy, Extreme and custom builds differ in wood, hardware and price
- the pointed outline is awkward to fit in a standard gig bag
- check neck-dive and strap balance on the individual instrument
