Taylor's 300 to 900 series is a ladder of acoustic lines that share body shapes and differ mainly in the timber used.

Why it matters
Taylor numbers its acoustics by series, and the number says more about the timber set and the trim than about the shape, which is chosen separately from the GA, dreadnought and Grand Concert menu. Once that logic is clear the range is easy to shop, because the same guitar exists at several price points along the ladder. Prices climb steadily with the series number, and the top of the ladder moves into small-builder territory.
Note
Wood-tier ladder: sapele → rosewood → koa etc., all sharing the GA/Dread/GC body menu.
Specifications
- Scale length: unknown
- Neck shape: unknown
Before you buy
- The series number describes timber and trim, not body size, so check both
- Electronics differ between series, and the pickup system matters as much as the top wood
- Two guitars in the same series can be built to different body shapes
